Cross-Sectioning plays an important role in Failure Analysis. It is a technique used to examine the microstructure of materials, defects, cracks, to examine and measure coatings, inter-metallic layers, and films. Precision cross-sectioning is also used to examine the quality and structure of Vias, IC's, Layers, De-lamination and to determine the porosity in coatings.
